Oliver F. Arrett, a registered patent attorney, is the past president of the firm and of counsel to the firm. Mr. Arrett is a graduate of the University of Detroit with a degree in Chemistry/Biology. He is also a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law. He worked at Honeywell Inc. from 1961 to 1969 where he had patent responsibility for the following technical and product areas: chemistry, metallurgy, solid state physics, gaseous electronics sensing and control, radiation sensing and control, electronic air cleaners, humidity responsive devices, and gas and vapor detectors. He spent the years 1969 to 1977 in the patent department of Chrysler Corporation where his responsibilities included marine engines and related equipment, metallurgical research, pollution controls for engines and exhaust systems, fuel systems, and physics research. In 1977 he joined the firm of Schroeder, Siegfried, Vidas & Arrett, a predecessor to the Vidas, Arrett & Steinkraus firm. He has practiced extensively in all phases of patent, trademark, and copyright law, including licensing and other agreement negotiation and drafting. Mr. Arrett also served as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, handling a variety of commercial cases.
